Traditional martial art weapons (tunfa, sai and bo).
While we are not offering classes in the dojo, Sensei is sending out video’s for students to practice.
This video is of Sensei John doing the 100th kata of Suuji no Kun. We participated in the annual 100 Kobudo Challenge, where we each did 100 repetitions of a traditional weapons (kobudo) kata.
The below pictures are those of the students who participated in The Challenge and their weapon of choice. All monies raised will be donated to The Autism Resources Central.

The study of any weapon involves learning to move energy (chi) beyond the confines of the body. Short weapons (sai and tunfa) have the advantage of being hidden but the disadvantage of having a much shorter range than the longer weapon (bo). In cases of self defense, the practice of using a short weapon to protect ones self might be more useful because most assaults happen from a close distance.
